Branch profile

RSCDS Western Australia Branch (Inc)
The WA Branch was founded in 1976 with membership today at around 65. Scottish Country Dancing is a wonderful opportunity to meet new people as well as learn an energetic and skilful exercise benefitting both the mind and body.
Qualified teachers provide excellent tuition to learn to dance or improve your technique. Scottish Country Dance classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays and there is a Ceilidh dancing class every 1st and 3rd Friday. Classes begin in March through to December and follow the school term timetable. Clubs in Perth, Albany and Kununurra provide regular social dancing without formal teaching.
Monthly social dances are held from March to December and are a great opportunity to meet up socially with other dancers. Our Postie’s Jig newsletter is published quarterly and updates members with Branch activities.
In 2016 the Branch celebrated its 40th anniversary and special events were held with a weekend school in August in the Swan Valley with teachers John and Ruby Wilkinson from Scotland. In September a Ball was held at the Perth Town Hall with visiting Scottish musicians, Marian Anderson and Max Ketchin.
WA Branch will be hosting the Australian Winter School in 2020 and more information will be posted on our website closer to the time.
