Northern Virginia

Branch profile

Founded over 40 years ago, the Northern Virginia Branch is a thriving group with more than 60 members. We host weekly dance classes, beginner FUNdamentals classes, and regular tea dances throughout the year. Our biggest event is Argyle Weekend, which takes place every fall and features a Welcome Dance, a Ball, and multiple classes led by prestigious guest teachers from around the world.

We welcome visitors and would love to have you join us if you’re in the Washington, DC area! We dance every week at the Durant Center, 1605 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA, 22314. There is plentiful parking on the street and in a lot to the back of the Center. The Durant Center is also a short walk from the King Street Metro Station, which is accessible via the Blue and Yellow lines. The normal drop-in fee is $8, but classes are free for first-time attendees! This summer we will enjoy social dancing with new guest teachers each week.

Beginners, please join us for our next FUNdamentals class, which will begin on Wednesday, September 5 with a dance party featuring live music from Liz Donaldson and Becky Ross, and run through Wednesday, October 31.

Argyle Weekend this year will be held Friday through Sunday, November 9-11.
